Sarah Sanders, owner of Extra Help South Hams, Torbay, West Devon & Bude, has been chosen to receive a Devon Chamber 30 Under 30 Award. Remarkably, this is Sarah’s third consecutive win, having previously been chosen to receive 30 Under 30 awards in 2023 and 2024.

The Devon Chamber’s 30 Under 30 campaign has celebrated business leaders for the past two years. These talented entrepreneurs represent the future of our economy, driving innovation and community-focused solutions, and Sarah is a shining example of this initiative’s impact.
Thriving amid adversity
With a passion for helping others, Sarah launched her Extra Help franchise in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic – a time that posed significant challenges but also highlighted the need for key home-help services, especially amongst the vulnerable, elderly and those living alone. Since then, her franchise has flourished, despite government statistics indicating that, since the start of the pandemic and the UK’s exit from the European Union, the country has seen the disappearance of half a million small businesses. In 2023, Sarah took the bold step of expanding her franchise territory, doubling its size.
Building strong relationships and providing bespoke services
Sarah’s commitment to excellence is evident in her successful collaboration with Devon County Council and Age UK, both of which regularly refer clients to Extra Help South Hams, Torbay, West Devon & Bude. With a growing team of 17 home-helpers, Sarah ensures each client receives a personalised service that’s tailored to their needs, whether it’s dog-walking, shopping assistance, meal preparation, cleaning, or companionship.
It is this attention to detail and commitment to providing a quality service that has set Sarah apart from her competitors and enabled her home-help franchise to thrive.

Supporting Extra Help’s growth and inspiring others
Beyond the success of her own franchise, Sarah contributes significantly to Extra Help’s Head Office as Director of Operations. She provides training, guidance, and mentorship to new and existing Extra Help franchisees, helping them navigate their own, successful business journeys. Fellow franchisee, Zainab, said:

Sarah, along with the other winners, will receive her reward at a glittering ceremony in Plymouth in May. This event will celebrate the country’s leading young entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes, highlighting their contributions to the community and the economy.
