At Extra-Help Northumberland, our mission is simple: to make daily life easier, brighter, and more manageable for everyone we support. We are passionate about helping our elderly community remain independent in their own homes, while also giving busy people more time to enjoy life with family and friends.

We tailor our services to your needs—whether that’s a friendly face to help with shopping, support with household chores, or simply someone to check in and offer companionship.

Our Services

All services are affordably priced and can include:

• Domestic cleaning, washing, ironing, and household tasks
• Food or personal shopping—either accompanied or carried out on your behalf
• Meal preparation
• Companionship and befriending, including respite for carers and welfare check-ins
• Escorting clients to social activities such as bingo, lunch outings, or hair appointments
• Support with medical or hospital appointments
• Dog walking and general pet care
• Gardening and general household maintenance
• And so much more—just ask!

About Us

Sue

Hi I’m Sue, joint owner of Extra Health Northumberland.  I’m a registered mental health nurse with 40+ years experience in the NHS.  I have spent the last 5 years in the community within the older persons team and have seen first hand the vital support needed in the community in assisting clients and their carers.

Jill

Hi I’m Jill joint owner of Extra Health Northumberland.  I’m a registered physiotherapist with over 24 years experience in the NHS, most latterly spending the last10 years of my working career in the community, maximising clients health and well-being to enable them to stay as independent as possible in their own homes.

Together, we are passionate about giving back and making a real difference.

We have a wonderful team of home helpers who share our values: kind, caring, and compassionate. Every helper takes great pride in delivering a high-quality, personalised service.

Extra-Help Northumberland is fully insured, and all home helpers are:

• Reference-checked

Regular client feedback ensures we maintain exceptional standards and a bespoke service tailored to each individual.

We also strive to provide continuity, offering the same home helper for every visit wherever possible.

We know how dementia can affect a family, having both extensive experience working with clients with dementia throughout our professional lives and personally in our own families and are keen to support clients and family members to make a difference any way we can.
