We’ve had an exciting time recently at Extra Help as both Louise and I made the finals of the Devon Venus Awards 2015. I was a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year and Louise was a finalist for Employee of the Year …

I didn’t win my category, but the person who did was very deserving. It’s a hard choice when judging these things, but there’s always next year!

But Louise did win her category of Employee Of The Year and I’m not sure how the company would run without her! Louise’s category was voted for by the public so we were thrilled to get to each stage of the awards; firstly the semi-finals, then the finals and for Louise to actually win.

We have some exciting changes coming to our franchise opportunity for 2016. For a limited period, we are offering a very special franchise package. An Extra Help franchise at present costs £12,000 and as we pay your VAT, that is a flat fee.

As with all franchises, we charge a monthly management fee. This is normally £250 per month, or 10%, whichever the greatest. I haven’t always felt this is fair as the best performing franchisees, who need the least help, seem to be the ones paying more.

This is a typical model and for some franchises, it works well. Saying that, I’ve never been one to follow the herd and, as I feel times are changing and I want to be fairer to my franchisees, in 2016 there will be no percentage charged on a franchisees earnings.
