Extra Help Case Study: Sarah From Doncaster | How an inheritance provided the incentive …

Sarah Elliott has been the Extra Help franchisee for Doncaster since May 2013. Originally a community carer, Sarah had worked in a nursing home before becoming a teacher …

This is Sarah and some of her fellow Extra Help franchisees receiving a few days of our highly regarded quarterly training!

However, over the years, Sarah had been quietly entrepreneurial, researching various opportunities to create a business that matched her personal values.

“After an aunt left her an inheritance, Sarah stepped up her efforts to identify the ideal business opportunity!”

When my aunt passed away, I felt I had no more excuses,” she says, “I wanted to run a business that would provide caring services, but not necessarily personal care.

Having decided on the franchise route, and after some intensive research, Sarah got in touch with Extra Help. She had already discovered that her local council was due to shelve several elderly care services due to budget cuts, and she could see that Extra Help could easily fill this gap in the market.

After speaking to several existing franchisees, who confirmed that Extra Help was, indeed, a business that matched her caring values, Sarah decided to invest in a franchise. She particularly liked the idea that the Extra Help team would provide advice and support whenever required, as she had never run a business before.

Sarah immediately threw herself into her new business and says that, although it was hard work initially, she is now attracting a steady stream of clients.

“Her plans for the future include building her client base and trying out some new marketing ideas!”

As far as I’m concerned, life’s too short and I’m glad I went for it!” Sarah concludes, “My aunt was a caring lady too and I feel that she would be proud of me running this business. In fact, towards the end of her life, she really could have done with Extra Help’s services.
