We are thrilled to announce that Sarah Sanders, owner of Extra Help South Hams, Torbay, West Devon and Bude and Director of Operations here at Extra Help, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2026 Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWiF) Awards!
A nomination that recognises real impact
Sarah has been nominated in the ‘Woman Franchise Employee of the Year’ category – an award that celebrates women who consistently go above and beyond in their roles and make a positive difference across a franchise network. As Director of Operations, Sarah has helped to onboard and train over 13 franchisees so far, with 7 new franchisees joining in 2025 and the network growing to over 30.
Putting people first in home-help service delivery
At Extra Help, we believe great home-help starts with thoughtful training and tailored support. Sarah adapts training to suit different learning styles, using text, videos, conversation, presentations and role play, and is continually expanding the operations manual to include more varied content. Her hands-on, person-centred approach helps our franchisees deliver high-quality home-help services to their local communities.
Measurable growth and better outcomes
Due to Sarah’s guidance, our network saw strong growth of 22% in 2025, in terms of number of clients being serviced by our franchisees, up from 10% growth in 2024. Our team of home-helpers grew nationally by 62%; and the hours of support delivered locally rose substantially by 57%.
Sarah has also been instrumental in digitising the systems our franchisees use, partnering with Birdie care management software, an award winning B-Corp care management, to improve how we manage visits and client data. These changes help franchisees focus on what matters most – the delivery of compassionate home-help services for the elderly and families.
Coaching and bespoke support
Our network of Extra Help franchisees reported an average of 32% profit from their overall turnover and head office profitability has also increased from 12% in 2023, to 18% in 2025.
However, we don’t measure success by numbers alone. Sarah introduced one-to-one coaching for franchisees in 2025, so each new franchisee can visualise their goals and receive bespoke support. Weekly Zoom meetings give franchisees a forum to share challenges and celebrate wins, and Head Office checks in with each franchisee regularly to help them meet their individual objectives, whether that’s rapid growth or an improved work / life balance.
