3 Reasons why 2023 was a phenomenal year for Extra Help

There’s no denying that 2023 has been a fantastic year for Extra Help!

Not only has our franchise network experienced significant growth this year, we’ve also received several, prestigious awards. When Extra Help was founded by Claire Robinson in 2010, who could have ever predicted it would grow to become one of the most highly-regarded home-help and cleaning franchises in the country?

One of the reasons for our continued growth and success is that we only choose to work with franchisees who share and uphold the kind and caring ethos upon which Extra Help was established. This helps to ensure a consistently reliable service across the franchise network and our franchisees have truly excelled themselves in providing quality home-help and companionship services to many happy clients across the country.

As we approach the end of 2023, it’s the ideal time to reflect on the past year and what we’ve achieved as a franchise network. Here we present 3 reasons why 2023 was a phenomenal year for Extra Help.

1. We welcomed lots of new franchisees to the network

This year, 6 Extra Help franchises were launched in brand new areas, increasing the total number to 35 and bringing our valuable home-help, cleaning and companionship services to even more places. A very warm welcome to:

There were also 4 Extra Help franchise resales this year, as the existing owners decided to sell their businesses for various reasons, including retirement and relocation. The following Extra Help franchises now have new owners:

We’re so thrilled to have you all on board and are looking forward to seeing your businesses flourish over the coming year!

2. We just couldn’t stop winning awards!

This year, we made a strategic decision to enter for several awards. Awards are a fantastic way to showcase our franchise opportunity and raise Extra Help’s profile. Award entries require us to review Extra Help’s performance and spend time reflecting on our success, which is an invaluable exercise, in itself. Documenting our achievements makes us not only realise how far we’ve come as a business, but also highlights areas where efficiencies could be increased, encouraging continuous improvement.

We’re proud to say that, as a result, Extra Help has won some of the most prestigious awards this year! They are as follows:

For anyone who doesn’t know, the British Franchising Association is the largest and most influential trade association within the franchising industry. The BFA HSBC Awards are designed to celebrate franchising excellence. They showcase the innovation, dedication and positive impact franchises continue to make on the economy and are widely known as the ‘Oscars of the franchising industry’.

This is a HUGE WIN for Extra Help!

We were very proud and humbled to win this extremely coveted award in November, particularly as the competition was so fierce, with several other great brands also in the running.

This award is incredibly important to us, as it’s judged based on feedback from our existing franchisees, gained via an anonymous survey. We strive to ensure our franchisees stay happy and motivated because we know satisfied franchisees work harder for our network, thereby contributing to our overall growth and success.

Extra Help scored highly in all areas, however, the survey showed our franchisees think leadership is the area in which we excel the most. We are delighted to have scored so highly in this area, as it means we not only have clear, realistic goals that our franchisees can buy into, but they also believe Extra Help has excellent, long-term prospects.

The HSBC Elite Franchise TOP 100 UK Awards is Britain’s official list of the most highly regarded franchises in the industry. It is judged by an independent panel, who score on 8 core criteria: longevity, network size, financial performance, growth, contribution, support, innovation and future.

We are thrilled to be on this list, amongst many well-known brands, as it demonstrates our excellent credentials and highlights our positive reputation within the franchising community.

The Great British Businesswoman Awards recognise, celebrate, and support women in business, highlighting their achievements and contributions while fostering the next generation of female business leaders.

We recently learned that Claire Robinson had been shortlisted as a finalist for the Entrepreneurial Businesswoman Award. The results are due to be announced at a ceremony in January 2024 and, in the meantime, we’re keeping everything crossed for Claire. Watch this space!

3. Record numbers attended our Annual Conference

Our annual conference for franchisees took place in October at The Bristol Hotel and was attended by most of our franchisees. It provided a wonderful opportunity for our Extra Help franchisees to meet face-to-face, attend workshops, and discover valuable tips and advice on how to grow their franchise businesses.

The theme of the conference was ‘Goals’ and, throughout the day, we focused on goal setting, knowing your numbers, and setting personal and business goals.

There was an informal dinner in the evening, giving attendees plenty of time for networking, and the presentation of the Extra Help Awards, recognising and rewarding high achieving franchisees across the network.
