It’s been an exciting week here at Extra Help HQ. Saturday was our birthday and we celebrated 5 years of trading! Imagine that? We’ve been going from strength to strength for all that time …
Extra Help was initially set up to respond to the needs of elderly people living independently who required help with everyday tasks such as shopping, domestic chores, gardening and meal preparation.
Although helping the elderly remains our passion, our services have since expanded to include new and working parents, time-poor professionals and just about anyone who needs ad-hoc or regular assistance.
All of our home-helpers are personally interviewed, DBS and reference-checked, giving our clients the reassurance they need that they are in the best possible hands.
The business was first franchised in 2011 and we now have our wonderful franchisees dotted around England – from Plymouth to Newcastle – without whom we wouldn’t be able to spread our services around the country.

We also had other fantastic news last week: Louise Pen- Collings and I were semi-finalists in the Devon Venus awards and last week, at the stunning venue of Saunton Sands Hotel in North Devon, the finalists were announced.
Louise and I both got through to the finals! We’ll have to wait until Friday 27th November to see if we’ve won so fingers crossed all round. Louise is a finalist for Employee of the Year and I’m a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year.
